Oh Lord, I pray you remove her doubt.
Being intentional with my time has been the theme of 2020. I have goals spread out through various areas of my life. All of them require a certain level of focus. They have required me to step up my game when it comes to intention. One of those areas of growth is prayer.
While I was on the treadmill last week, my daughter played next to me. She was singing along with the praise music that played. One of her favorite songs was going – The God I Know by Love and the Outcome.
We both sing along extra loud during this part:
And then I threw my hands up, worries down
I remember when He showed me how
To break up with my doubt
Right in that moment, I prayed while I ran. “Oh Lord, remove her doubt. Don’t let my daughter go through those moments of pain. Don’t let her have doubt at all.” And the thing about the listening to the Lord is that sometimes you get an almost audible reply. This was one of those moments. In a gentle whisper back to me He answered, “Then how will she learn.”
If I hadn’t been determined to finish those treadmill miles, I would have stopped right in my tracks. “Then how will she learn” replayed over in my head. Yes, if God removes all obstacles, if he removes her doubt, if there are no challenges – how will she learn and grow?
So right there I changed my prayer. Rather than asking Him to remove her doubt I prayed, “Oh, Lord when she has those doubts, please give her the strength to get through it. Help her realize she can overcome any doubt or fear in her life. Simply be with her, Oh Lord.”
